Our goal is to help people get back on their feet (after a specific emergency or hard time). We are unable to sustain people who have long-standing financial hardships.
Here are some examples of requests and whether or not they were approved.
“I was recently diagnosed with cancer and am having trouble paying my bills.”
This request wasnot funded. While the diagnosis is specific and unexpected, we are unable to sustain the long-standing financial hardship.
“At a stoplight, my car was rear-ended. I need to rent a car for a month until I can buy a new one. ”
This request was funded. There is a specific and unexpected event that caused the hardship and no indication of future needs.
“A tree fell on my house, and I need help paying for the roof repairs.”
This request was funded. An unexpected event caused the hardship and once repaired, there will be no additional needs.
“I have been out of work for the past year, and I need money to pay for car repairs”.
This request was not funded. It is a long-standing financial hardship.
